MISSION

The Chicagoland area encompasses numerous government transportation agencies that rely on a combination of local, state, and federal funding to address their infrastructure needs. With current funding levels struggling to keep pace with current infrastructure needs, new approaches to improve infrastructure life cycles, including the evaluation of innovative ideas is needed. In 2018, the Illinois Tollway, State of Illinois Department of Transportation, City of Chicago Department of Transportation, and surrounding County departments of transportation (Cook, DuPage, Kane, Lake, McHenry, and Will) as well as the FHWA formed the Construction and Materials Asset Management group (CAM-AM).

The mission of the group is to share information on the current best practices in use across the region, and to collaborate on the evaluation of improvements to current practices as well as innovations presented in the market. By working together to pool resources and share in the efforts to evaluate and implement viable solutions, we can move towards improving quality and extending the service life of our infrastructure.
